Terms of Agreement (a selection)

Article 3 Objectives *This movement is based on the spirit of neighborly love mentioned in Luke 10:30 "You, go then, and do the same" and will act in concert with missionary organizations that are working with natives of areas in Sierra Leone (West Africa) and Mexico. No representative will be sent to work from this movement, and we place our objectives in lending a hand to the education and welfare of children in the above-mentioned locations.
Article 4 Activities This movement undertakes the following activities to reach the above-mentioned objectives:
  41 Education Aid: Financial assistance through scholarships in order to give educational opportunities to children who are forced to give up their education due to economical reasons such as poverty.
42 School Meal Aid: Financial assistance for providing school meals to elementary school pupils, in order to promote their education and to relieve them from poverty.
43 Aid for Raising Local Talent: Financial assistance in order to continue and maintain the activities and achieve the above objectives by raising natives with potential and talent.
44 Urgency Aid: Financial assistance that flexibly responds to the needs of victims of natural calamities such as epidemics, floods, earthquakes and droughts, as well as civil wars.
45 Special Assistance: Financial aid that applies like the urgency aid, permitted in special situations.
46 Material Aid: Material assistance based on the need of the people in the above-mentioned locations for the improvement of their standards of living and welfare.
47 Fundraising: The collection of contributions from organizations and individuals within and outside of the country, in order to attain the objectives of the above-mentioned activities.
48 Collection of material goods: Collection and transportation of material goods needed in order to carry out activity mentioned in 46).
49 Other: Publication, publicity, and other activities considered necessary and advantageous to the continuation and development of this movement.  All of the activities stated above must be limited to the sphere in which the effectiveness of the assistance can be confirmed, in relation to the purpose and financial ability of the organization
Article 5 Membership
  51 This movement consists of 'active' and 'supportive' members.
52 This movement considers as active members participants who are actively involved in the promotion of this movement by being part of the committee, etc., and as supportive members those participants who participate solely through contributions.
53 An active member is equivalent to a full member, and is permitted to attend the general assembly and take part in the decision-making process of the committee.
54 A supportive member may not take part in the decision-making process of the committee, but may attend as an observer and make comments.  If this is not possible for any reason, this person could convey his/her opinion to the general assembly or the management committee so that it can be taken into consideration and reflected in the decisions.
55 Individuals and organizations that express sympathy and participate in the activities or make contributions will be listed in the movement directory regardless of the size of the contribution, unless otherwise desired.
56 All of the members are equal, and have the right to know all the information of the movement.
57 All of the members are entitled to the movement's newsletter, "Lend A Hand Movement News."
58 Any member can ask for assistance and convenience from the movement headquarter as an individual or a group when having some kind of event such as an exhibition.
59 Any member is entitled to withdraw from this movement without any restrictions.
510 Either in contribution or in their service activities, if three years pass without any participation, this member will be considered as having withdrawn, and will have his/her name taken off the directory.
511 A member could loose membership if he/she brings disgrace on or obstructs the movement activities, and if the seriousness of his/her action, as well as the action itself are acknowledged through the examination by the representative committee.
Article 6 Membership Fee
  61 This movement does not require membership fees.
62 This movement proceeds with its undertakings with the contributions made by individuals or organizations that agree with its objectives, when each of them can or desires to do so.
63 The person in charge of the financial affairs is trusted with the contributions and is responsible for its safe remittance.
64 As a principle, contributions cannot be returned, but if a statement is made by the individual asking for repayment, may be returned after examination by the management committee.
Article 8 Officials
  83 The term of an official is in principle limited to two years, but reappointment will not be prevented.
84 An official's pay: An official of this movement is unpaid whether full-time or part-time, regardless of the role.  However, he/she may receive transportation fees and lunch fees. (The rest is omitted)
Article 10 Accounts
  101 Fiscal year: The movement's fiscal year is 9/1-8/31, in correspondence with the academic year of the countries for which our aid is intended.
